history
The Beijing International Society was established in 1981 by a group of foreigners who shared an interest in exploring and understanding aspects of China's rich and varied culture.
goal
Our goal is to provide a way for Beijing's foreign residents, who often have limited stays, to learn about China from leaders in culture and the fine arts, religion, history and archaeology.
society structure
BIS is a non-profit, voluntary organization. The BIS membership list is only used for BIS records and mailings. Membership cards are given upon payment of membership dues and must be shown upon entry to BIS events.
events
Our Society provides between three to four programs per month: evening lectures (guests welcome) held at various embassies and Saturday outing (members only, by reservation) to places of historical and cultural interest. No events are scheduled in July and August.
