Roberta Lipson, a single American woman arrived in China in 1979 at the age of 24. She found a China very different from what we know today. Since then, life expectancy in China grew by 10 years and maternal and Infant mortality improved by a factor of almost 10. During that time, in addition to finding true love, and raising a family, wanting to somehow make an impact, Roberta started a company which supplied much needed medical equipment to Chinese hospitals. Roberta also founded United Family Healthcare, which grew from one small hospital serving the international community in Beijing, to a national chain, with ten hospitals located in almost every major first tier city, plus networks of clinics and an Internet Hospital, now serving Chinese patients and expatriates alike. Roberta will share her experiences, as an entrepreneur, a woman, a mother and a community leader,  over this exciting period, of China’s development, as well as her thoughts on China’s healthcare reform.
