An adaptation of the famous novel written by Ba Jin in the 1930's. This production was filmed at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, by students of the Theater Department, and directed by the Chinese director, Ying Ruocheng. It portrays the conflict between traditional Chinese values of family members and the more modern concepts of life just after the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic. The production is well done and has won acclaim for its authenticity.
