Dr. Leo Teller
Embassy of Mexico
In November 1988, an international group of scientists and laymen travelled from Lhasa, through Gyangze and Xigaze, to the Rombuk Monastery at the foot of Mt. Everest, camped on Lake Paiku at 5000 meters and crossed the main Himalayan range to Nepal. Dr. Leo Teller will describe this journey (with the help of slides), touching on both the conservation initiative, which was the main reason for the trip, and on some historical background of the places visited.
