Outing: Tianqiao Teahouse

How odd, how fitting that one can find the holiday spirit while recreating a 1930s Teahouse Theatre. Beijing's Tianqiao (Bridge of Heaven) area, south on Qianmen Dajie and West of the Temple of Heaven, was once known for its colorful night life. As early as the Tuan Dynasty, storytellers, dancers, acrobats, magicians, and musicians transformed street life into theatre. After 40 austere years, the area is reviving, and its centerpiece is the Tianqiao Teahouse, where 200 guests can travel back in time to enjoy a colorful setting, lively performance, endless tea, and savories served by historically-costumed vendors.
