Why Chinese Tradition is Relevant for the Present World

Professor Kubin will address issues of ancient Chinese philosophy and will give perspectives on current Chinese and German philosophy. The talk will focus on key questions, such as exercise as a precondition for being a human, comprehensive sustainability as the basis for an adequate lifestyle, and responsibility before mankind. How are these questions relevant for our present thinking and the development of society and business? The background of the lecture is a ten-volume publication on Chinese thinking that Prof. Kubin has recently published with the German publishing house, Herder.

Prof. Wolfgang Kubin (born 1945 in Celle, Germany) is lifetime Professor at the Bonn University and Senior Professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University. As a sinologist, he examines the Chinese history of ideas, as a translator, he brings knowledge of Chinese literature and philosophy to a wider audience, as an author he writes lyrics, poetry and essays.
