and
Ms. Rachel Wasser
President, China Education Initiative (CEI)

Map:

Every day, tens of millions of Chinese children are faced with severely limited educational prospects. Rural children are more than three times less likely to graduate from high school than their urban peers, and in some parts of western China children drop out of school at a rate that is 10 times the national average – making the challenge of escaping poverty an even more insurmountable task.

Established in 2008 under the auspices of Princeton University, Tsinghua University and the Ford Foundation, the China Education Initiative (CEI) is an innovative non-profit organization taking a unique approach to eliminating educational inequity in China by enlisting the US and China's most promising future leaders in the effort.

As founders of a successful China-based non-profit engaging stakeholders as diverse as Chinese government institutions, American and Chinese universities, and major multinational corporations, Mr. Pasinetti and Ms. Wasser will discuss overcoming the challenges that inhere in creating and implementing a new model for addressing one of China's most pressing development issues.
